A new problem presented in front of the design engineers was the jet engine exhaust. In the Pulqui, a long tube was installed, protruding out of the very conventional tail. This long tube brought some problems: the Derwent engine had the tendency to stop running when started for the first time.

The exhaust tube had some downward direction, probably to provide some longitudinal stability, although at first sight it seems to be a necessity of not altering the tail surfaces position, that is, the lines of the original prop-powered airplane. Anyway, Dewoitine had in mind a succesor to this aircraft, a real jet design; sadly, the arrival of the Tank team and the plans for constructing the Pulqui II ended with Mr Dewoitine's contract.
